Spring Trends Style Guide

Spring Trends Style Guide

7 minute read

Forget the practicality and comfort of the two previous years, Spring 2022 is arriving in screaming color and unapologetic style. It was bound to happen; people have tired of their loungewear and WFH attire. With the season of change budding in the background, you should consider breathing some life into your collection with this year’s top trends.

Jewelry trends over the last couple of years have been Marie Kondo’d - that is to say that they were stripped down to their bare essentials. Thanks to the pandemic, minimalist pieces and barely-there accessories dominated. But 2022 is having none of it.

This year, it’s the time for the maximalist. It’s all about making a statement, embracing color and playing around with your style. The old rules are out, and 2022 is redefining what is gendered jewelry, what is acceptable and what is fashionable. With all these experimental trends, this could be the year that your style sees its next evolution.

Dopamine dressing

If the state of the world has you feeling blue or grey, just style your way to happiness. 2022 has ushered in the era of dopamine dressing — an intentional practice of elevating your mood with bright and bold colors. Think sunshine yellow, lime green, fiery red and Barbie pink. This trend is all about loud expression because, after all, fortune favours the bold.

It’s not without reason, there’s science backing it. colors have been proven to affect moods. While culture and personal subjectivity do have a role to play, you can’t deny that bright colors bring more joy than muted neutrals. With the season of vibrant color here, take the chance to add a dose of dopamine to your day.

This, much like the majority of trends this year, is about effortless joy. Dive into a kaleidoscope with the Colorama collection featuring the Colorama Book necklace and the Colorama book cufflinks. This collection is a riot of color with a paint chip inspired design. The hues of blue, purple and orange are brightened by the black IP plated steel of the metal. Both the necklace and the cufflinks are able to rotate open so that the full spectrum of colors can be seen.

If your attire or office isn’t as open to looking like a box of Crayola, you can still incorporate this trend subtly. The Spring Landscape Agate cufflinks have a more muted palette but are still undeniably “spring”. These luxury cufflinks are limited edition to commemorate the season with unique, natural stones.

Genderless gems

Menswear and men’s luxury jewelry are seeing a revolution, and it’s not happening quietly. The line between masculine and feminine style is blurring and a new option is emerging: gender-neutrality. Style norms are being tested, broken and reshaped. While women have always been encouraged to express themselves through their jewelry options, men are now being offered the same liberties.

The trendiest example of this is the pearlcore movement. Predicted by Pinterest to be one of the biggest influences on fashion and jewelry this year, pearls have made their transition from stuffy to stylish. The oceanic jewels have rediscovered their way back onto the catwalks and evolved in an unexpected way. Pearls are now the sought-after accessory in menswear. Pinterest searches for “pearl necklace men” and “pearl necklace outfit men” have increased noticeably since 2021.

But don’t go raiding gran’s jewelry box just yet - pearl trends of 2022 are nothing like those of bygone years. Think edgy iterations and grungy accents complemented with timeless luxury. If you are a fan of this gem, be a part of the pearl revolution and learn how to style them here

'90s chains

The ‘90s are back with a modern update. This iconic era of fashion was a crucible of different ideologies, affiliations and fashion trends. Chunky chains were the meeting point between ‘90s fashion and music.

Rappers took a maximalist approach to their accessories, introducing the world to the idea of “bling”. Thick, twisted ropes of metal and large, audacious linked chains adorned the necks and wrists of all the big names. If you’re nostalgic for a dial-up tone and Blockbuster videos, this Ludacris-turned-luxe accessory is a trend you can take advantage of. Unless you’re looking to channel Mr. T, style a chunkier accessory as a singular statement piece.

Just one piece from the Catena collection is a statement all on its own. Plus, some of the pieces in this collection allow you to combine two trends: ‘90s luxury chains and dopamine dressing. The Catena Multi bracelet (enamel and stainless steel) contains three different chain weaves, the Tateossian signature vintage watch movement and hand-painted enamel links. The Catena Multi necklace (stainless steel) is the contemporary chain that has it all: a ‘90s edge, a bold structure and unique multicolored hand-painted enamel.

Watches

One of the top trends forecasted this year in Pinterest Predicts (their yearly trend report), is what they are calling “hot horology”. While the classic styles have always been (excuse the pun) timeless, analogue watches are set to make a comeback. It was just a matter of time.

Playfulness

This year is the time, more than ever, to play and experiment. The world is entering a balance between pandemic woes and a new normal. These unchartered waters mean the time is ripe for redefining your style and exploring new fashion interests. 2022 is opening the flood gates of color, alternative aesthetics, novelty and personal expression. Dive in and see where the stream takes your style.

“Playfulness” is the word being used to describe the latest trends in men’s jewelry. As the optimism of the warmer seasons creeps in, beaded necklaces, handwoven bracelets and macrame details are the elements to embrace. Vogue sums it up neatly as a sort of “summer camp” chic. Think warm days, casual conversation, and laid-back style.

Welcome back that spring feeling with the Sennit necklace, a trendy way to add color and personality to any outfit. This necklace is strung with multicolored semi-precious stones including gold, obsidian, apatite, Kambala jasper and red agate. The matching Sennit bracelet is the companion to this look. It’s a macrame bracelet made with the same semi-precious stones. Each bracelet takes around an hour and a half to make by hand, meaning you don’t have to book into a summer camp to find your next accessory.

For those who want to embrace this trend but scale back on the artistic flair, the Ghana bracelet is another handwoven macrame option. The contemporary style is your way to stay on-trend in a sophisticated way. The hematite stones are cut deliberately to create a smooth, unbroken wave around the wrist. The sliding knot at the back adds a casual element to the bracelet while the metallic sheen of the electroplated beads keeps it modern. It’s truly an instant classic.
